Contraception
There are many forms
of contraception available for use today and it is very important
that you think about which method of contraception you will be
using in the future. You may discuss this with one of our patient advisors or doctors, at any of our Pregnancy Advisory Services or Treatment
Centres. Information will also be available at your local family
planning clinic or with your own GP if you prefer.
If you
choose to visit us, you will be advised about the most effective
methods of contraception to use at your first consultation and
assessment session. If you have a termination of pregnancy it
is very important that you consider your contraceptive needs beforehand
as it is possible to become pregnant,
even before your next period, if you have unprotected intercourse.
Condoms
and written information about all forms of contraception are available
at no extra charge. An IUD (intrauterine device) or coil can only
be fitted at the treatment centres at the time of operation, for
a small fee. Patients need to arrange this with the clinic at
consultation and bring an I.U.D. along at time of treatment, from
their own GP or Family Planning Clinic.
We are
not a family planning organisation however we are able to refer
you to your nearest clinic where every aspect of contraception
to suit your needs can be discussed in detail.
