Chlamydia Testing

Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection which often goes unnoticed as it does not always display any symptoms.  If left untreated it can cause pelvic inflammatory disease, which can have serious long-term consequences, and could cause infertility.

Doctors now recommend that all women having a termination of pregnancy should have a test to establish whether Chlamydia is present in the vagina. The test is simple and if it proves positive a short course of antibiotics will eliminate the infection.

If you have a partner he may be infected as well, even though he may not have any symptoms. It is very important that he also has a test and is treated if this proves positive.

We strongly recommend that you are screened for Chlamydia, particularly if you feel you have been at risk.

Chlamydia testing is free of charge at our clinics in Stockport, Manchester, Stoke and Wolverhampton.
